Sanjay Dutt is set to star in the upcoming sequel to the 2019 hit film “Dream Girl.” The actor is said to be “desperate” to hear the new story from the film’s director, Raaj Shaandilyaa, and has already agreed to star in the film.
Dutt is no stranger to sequels, having starred in the “Munna Bhai” series and the “Kaante” series. He is also no stranger to working with Raaj Shaandilyaa, having starred in the director’s 2018 film “Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.”
“I am very excited to be working with Raaj Shaandilyaa again,” Dutt said in a statement. “He is a brilliant director and I know he will come up with a great story for ‘Dream Girl 2.'”
The original “Dream Girl” starred Ayushmann Khurrana as a man who takes on a female identity to become a phone sex operator. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over ₹100 crore (US$13 million) at the box office.
The sequel is expected to be a comedy-drama, and will explore the themes of gender identity and deception. It is scheduled to be released in 2024.
“I am confident that ‘Dream Girl 2’ will be even bigger and better than the original,” Shaandilyaa said. “Sanjay Dutt is the perfect actor to lead the film, and I am excited to see what he brings to the role.”
The news of Dutt’s involvement in the film has been met with excitement by fans. “This is amazing news!” one fan tweeted. “I can’t wait to see Sanjay Dutt in a Raaj Shaandilyaa film again.”

“Dream Girl 2” is currently in the scripting stage. No other cast members have been announced yet.
