In the IPL, on Friday, the batsmen of Lucknow Super Giants batted first. And scored the second highest score of 257 runs in the history of this tournament.

The Punjab Kings team was nowhere to be seen in the match and lost the match by a margin of 56 runs.

Exactly 10 years ago in 2013, such an innings was played in the IPL which is still recorded in the record books.

You remember Chris Gayle innings of 175 not out?

Yes, in that match, not only did Chris Gayle score the highest individual score in the history of IPL, but 17 sixes came off his bat. This is still the record for most sixes hit by a single batsman in an innings.

Gayle’s century (in 30 balls) is still recorded in the record books as the fastest century in the history of IPL. Due to the innings of Gayle and de Villiers, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 263 runs in that match. This is still the biggest score of any team in IPL.

Last night in Mohali, KL Rahul’s team also created a storm like that innings of RCB and missed to match it by a margin of just six runs.

This match was also played like that. The batsmen showered runs in a stormy fashion. Neither the bowlers and fielders got respite in the field, nor the commentators in the commentary box as Lucknow Supergiants were scoring around 12 runs in every over during the innings.

What records were made?

IPL has started from 2008, where more than one thousand matches have been played till now.

But this is the match, which will be remembered for many years to come. In this, those records were made which are rarely seen in the history of IPL.

Lucknow Super Giants scored 257 runs while batting first. This is the biggest score of this season. This is also the second highest score of any team in the history of IPL.

The record of the highest score of 263/5 was made by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors in 2013 under the leadership of Virat Kohli. That is, it missed becoming the biggest innings in the history of IPL by only six runs.

The Punjab team also scored 201 runs in this match. Both the teams together scored 458 runs. This is the third highest score by both the teams in a single match.

Only twice in any one match of IPL both the teams have managed to score more than this.

The biggest total of both the teams was made in 2010 in the match played between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
